Between the hours of 12:30-14:30, a squad of eager Energy Advocates were deployed to my front door with heavy equipment (a camera and a tripod) and were ready to brief me to follow specific instructions from their expertise.e teamed up and they advised me on how to conquer the students’ worse house problem, besides getting up for morning lectures – Mould.

Where does mould come from?

I took the Energize Worcester personnel upstairs and showed them the state of my windows: mould spreading like wildfire and invading not only the glass, but the wood and the cracks of the windowsill.

Mould grow near cold damp surface such as single glazed window frames.

They explained how this had happened. I never thought about it before. I learned that mould resulted from condensation, and condensation was resulted from outside’s cold air batting with my room’s heat.

Focusing on moisture, buying a squeegee to wipe the watered window and buying moisture absorbent crystals help eradicate moisture leading to mould.

I never knew mould affects my breathing, it’d be a lot worse if I were to suffer from asthma or if I had compromised immune systems.

Notifying the landlord is also my responsibility when mould grows because they can pay the damage costs with my deposit, if serious.

There’ll soon be some videos to discuss how to clean mould properly.

I was then advised on keeping my house insulated, receiving tips like stuffing cracks underneath doors with towels to keep heat.

Another tip was that thick curtains can insulate rooms because the draft doesn’t come through; this is helpful to know for the winter.

Taking meter readings are easy

Outside, I was taught how to open and read the meter box. It was freezing, so I wore these bad boys…I didn’t realise how easy and quick it was to input your meter readings to let you track your usage.

Winning prizes like gift voucher is a great incentive encouraging me to continue entering my meter reading.

All in all, it was a productive day and we executed an informal, yet informative video!
